Lichfield. Aug. 2026

Hello all,
Thank you all so much for another wonderful CCS weekend. You produced some very fine music: my old teacher, Alan Tregaskis, would have been thrilled to hear his Mag.& Nunc being performed in an English Cathedral (and you sang it so well); the Howells was simply beautiful, I loved it; the Byrd more than survived, it was actually quite good and the Mealor was very special, really moving (many people in the congregation commented upon this); I have finally come to enjoy Stanford in Bb again, it must have been the way you sang it; and, of course, the Finzi was full of vitality, hopefully you all felt suitably enravished singing it, it was very good.

In addition to singing so well you all seemed to have a great time socialising. You are such a friendly, happy group of people, it’s wonderful. It means such a lot to me to see you all getting on so well and having so much fun.

A huge thank you to Elizabeth who played brilliantly. How on earth you managed what you did on only 40 minutes, to set up the organ for three services, I’ll never know. We are so lucky to have you as our organist.

Have a great summer break and I’ll look forward to seeing you all in September.

Love to all,
Deborah Xxx
